Wind-Rated Doors, Extension Springs
A house built in the late 80s usually came with a chain-drive opener on a 1/3 or 1/2 horsepower motor, steel raised-panel doors instead of the older flat wood or aluminum styles, and extension springs almost as often as torsion. By 1988 building codes in this part of Florida were already pushing toward wind-load rated garage doors, so a fair number of Ellenton doors carry rated hardware that older nearby neighborhoods never got.
